My child was picked by Empire Model Management to be a model. When she went to meet them, she had to go to their apartment in Queens. Once inside she saw as many as 10 models living in this small apartment. She met with Justin Perry who told her she could model. There were both boys and girls sleeping everywhere in the apartment. She was told she had to move into the apartment and pay over $1,500 to sleep in a little room shared with other kids.
Justin also said he had to test shoot her for another $800.00. Many of the kids were underage and when she talked to them they told her that Justin would insist on sexual favors to make them successful and send them out to work and bring back money for Justin. Many of the other kids told her that Justin has had relations with many of the female models and if they don't cooperate they would not get anything and be blackballed from the industry. He uses scare tactics and intimidation to get what he wants.
She also met someone named Ryan who was doing the same thing with the boys. Most of the kids want to achieve their dreams so they give in and are too scared to do anything because Justin threatens them and makes them believe he can ruin their chances of becoming a model. These guys are predators and have taken a lot money and sexual favors from their models.
After paying $800 for her pictures she was told that she would be introduced to wealthy men who could help her out financially in exchange for her doing what they said. These guys need to be stopped, they are scammers, liars and predators. They get there models some free test shoots and some get into magazines but what they have to pay and do for it is really wrong and very bad. She is very scared of them and she won't say anything because she believes they can hurt her career.
They are nothing but glorified pimps and people need to be warned to stay away from them. Both Justin and Ryan use threats and intimidation to keep the models in line and quiet. What they are doing is illegal and they need to be stopped. Parent of any child with Empire Model Management in New York City should speak to the children immediately and find out if they have been exploited. I also found out Empire has been banned by most conventions because of complaints from parents.
