My son was incarcerated in the Delta County Jail in Escanaba, Michigan and Evercom, an arm of Correctional Billing Services, was the sole provider of phone services. A single 15-minute phone call was $7.95. That is just highway robbery. Evercom or Correctional Billing services should be incarcerated for gouging customers like that. A 1-minute phone call was a minimum of $4.95 (that's the "connection" fee). Come on!!! This is an absolute rip-off. Ridiculous.
I wish somebody could do something to alleviate this hardship on those that want to stay in touch with their loved ones. Yeah, he did the crime, and the time, but that should be punishment enough for him. No need to punish family members, too.
