5 bedrm home foreclosed. Needed some TLC moving and storage to help me move. I was quoted $99.00 a month for storage and at the time it was all I could afford. Unfortunate for me. Moving day was a blizzard. Three Elite Movers showed up. I had many other hands on deck, but not enough eyes to really watch the amount of boxes used and rolls and rolls of unused tape lying around. I remember telling the one mover in charge exactly what was to be moved, but during the move I was going back to areas that were not completely emptied and had to remind him. After the move I found a lot left and had to move it myself the next day. The storage aspect of this nightmare was the worst. I was told by the owner of Elite Moving that I had access to my things whenever I wanted to see them, all I needed to do was call in advance and make an appointment. I tried to make this appointment many times and the owner was not to be found.
Six months into my things being stored, I finally just showed up at the storage place and talked to Seth.
I told him I wanted to see my things as I did not believe my things were even there. He assured me everything was there and I said I was not leaving until I saw it with my own eyes. He said ELite Movers could not allow me in the warehouse for insurance reasons. My question for him was, if I can see my things I would have to enter the warehouse. I refused to leave and Seth said he would call the police and he went to the phone and punched three numbers and the speaker came on and said "information". So Seth was trying to bluff me and it didnt work. He finally said I could see my things if I signed a waver in case I was hurt in the warehouse. I signed it. Seth and I went into the warehouse and WHAT A JUNK HEAP/FIRE HAZZARD. Stuff everywhere and in the walking path and things not covered and tossed everywhere. My heart pounded and I felt the tears coming just to see my things. Seth pointed to my area (if thats what you want to call it) Supposedly I was to be in a POD.
My things were stacked on top each other like kindling. All the furniture that was wrapped with blankets when it left my home, were all uncovered and sitting out in the dust. I cried and said "This is a junk heap and you will hear from me". I came back the next day with my daughter Kelly and Seth was not going to let us in and call his 'so called' police. My daughter begged him to release her to see my things and he finally did. Kelly came out of the warehouse in tears. We got in the car and almost immediately did we get a phone call from the owner saying she would move my things out of Elite Storage for free. (I wonder why) I told her I didnt know where else it could go as I lost everything and had very little money. I told her I would look for a place for it to go and call her. The battle continued. The owner supposedly moved my things out of the warehouse and onto a moving truck. Seth said my things were on a BROKEN truck and not to worry about my things. I called Seth a few times and said I cant find a place for my things.
The owner was horrible to me and yelled at me about how it cost her to put my things on a truck. Finally on moving day out of the hell hole I paid my balance and I was told that I could not bring my moving guys into their warehouse so I would HAVE TO rent her guys to move into my truck. I had to pay $200 more to get it out of there. The condition of my things was horrifying. Ripped apart, broken, pieces missing, boxes crushed. Some furniture looked like it was pushed or dragged across cement. I saw one ELite Mover walk out to the dock with a beautiful framed water color painting, I painted, and he was holding upside down and it was not wrapped at all and part of the frame was still attached to the frame by the wire and he was dragging it on the ground. After calling attention to it the ELite Mover just set it down. This kind of incident happened many times.
They also moved things that werent mine into
the truck and wouldnt come to pick it up. I had a beautiful Pottery Barn wooden umbrella that I found on the loading dock that was ripped to shreds and discolored because there was no tag on it so they left it on the dock for a YEAR!!! I have a gorgeous antique replica minature high boy, it came in two pieces. The leg part of this piece is MIA and they arent helping me find it. It is not usable now. I would say more then 9 out of 10 pieces of furniture are dented, horribly scratched, legless and unusable. Some of these treasures of mine were given to me by my mother (who is gone now) and they are ruined. Some of these things I was awarded in my divorce and they are ruined. I lost my home and now I have lost everything that was in it. How do I replace these things. Elite Mover AKA New Beginnings are a JOKE AND A RIP OFF and didnt care about my life or my things. I will be doing something about this if its the last thing I do. THEY WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN!
