While reading other reports on this site, I noticed that people claimed that these lying scammers received their names because of their purchasing a book by Kevin Tredeau. While I do not doubt that purchasing a book of his (also scams - come on, he claims to be an expert in everything!), I received this scam letter, and I know for a fact that I never, never purchased a book from him. However, I do have an idea how they received my name.
Have you ever been online and been told that you will recieve a free item, such as a phone, only to find that it was all advertising to wrangle into commitments that are difficult to break. Well, I actually (like an idiot) responded to one that said I would win a free Apple laptop. After looking at a few of their trial offers, I backed out of all screens and committed to nothing. Still, they must have sold my information everywhere because now everyone knows it.
I'm fairly sure of my claim here because I had not been bothered by scam mail or telemarketers for over a year, yet now they all know my number, and I did nothing else to get on their radar.
So beware of giving your information to anything on the internet that you did not seek yourself, or all sorts of scams may come your way.
Thanks,
