I worked as a site supervisor (Akron City Hospital) and as the interim staffing coordinator for Parking Solutions, Inc. I was offered the management position at Hopkins airport (as evidenced in the company newsletter). When it came time for my promotion, I was told the company could not pay my salary and that the position was not being offered to me beause I live more than 10 miles from the client's location.
It is unreasonable and discriminatory to determine employment eligibility based on residency. City after city in Ohio have tried to make their city employees (fire, police, etc.) live within the city limits of the city for which they work... Only to be overruled by local and state courts.
Additionally, when I asked for a written statement of the reasons for my lay-off, I was sent a letter which stated I slept and watched movies while on the job and that the reason i was laid off was because the ACH contract was not renewed. It was completely false and did not include anything that my area manager stated when he let me go. I was contacted by phone on several occassions by the HR department... But when I asked if I could record the call (s)... They wanted to get off the line.
