I would like to start by saying that I began as a valued employee who always received recognition from the management team and co-workers.
This all changed when a reorganization happened and my manager went to Brusells to head the international Vanguard offices. I then found out how the management team really felt about me. First, I was offered a position in another department. I then was told that I didn't want the position and since it was an upfront position in which I would be the first point of contact for the executives.
Basically, indirectly stated that I wasn't good enough for the position because of the way I look which is discrimination. Second, I was told that I would stay in my department as a back up admin. Now, this is a department who has never had two admins. Because there is no need for it. This is a one person position.
All of this happened abruptely without me knowing anything before hand I was just told when they felt like I should know which was at the last minute. I guess last minute seems to work for them since this is the way that the entire department is run, information at the last minute.
Anyway, for the last four months, I have been in a position with no work to do, specifically for this reason, the operations manager, did not want me to go to another department because he wanted me to be a processor. Since I did not want to do what he wanted, he tried to get my supervisor to pursued me to be a processor.
I again advised her of the same, I was not interested. At no time did my supervisor try and find me a administrative position within another department knowing I had nothing to do. Because I did not want to do what they wanted me to, I was held captive in the same position, which was classified as a temporary position until they could find out what to do with me since the new admin. Took my job.
After getting the runaround, and feeling like I no longer belonged at this company because of their practices, I pursued an outside opportunity. Needless to say I got one and gave Vanguard my resignation which was the worst thing I could have done.
All of a sudden, the same day my resignation was given, my employee information was wiped out, and my supervisor refused to approve my final timesheet. Now any other time, she would approve it before I even submitted it to her, but, now, after three times of submitting it to her, she still didn't approve it. It was like she was trying to make sure that I didn't receive my last check because I was leaving.
To sum it all up, Vanguard it not the a company that should be receiving the recognition that they do. What should be reported to the news and media is that Vanguard discriminates against minorities by not giving them the same opportunities as they would any one else unless you kiss their ass and act as their slave, their practices of promoting, demoting and terminating employees is based on if the management likes you on a personal level and that they could care less about their crewmembers unless you do what they say.
I have never worked for such a crooked and devious company in all my life where all the employees are miserable. Nor have I seen so many people leave one department in a matter of months or the new employees trying to leave as soon as they enter the department. It's ridiculously sad, that they try to bribe you with partnership and food.
I will end this by saying that I would rather be unemployed than to ever work at Vanguard again and if you are even considering to apply with them, I assure you, that you will eventually realize that it was the biggest mistake you have ever made.
