I have received many calls from companies asking for our model # on our copier. I was informed by a previous employer that this is a scam so I have been aware of this particular scam for a long time. I've never been able to find out who they are or any contact info until today. We have caller ID at our office and today is the first time that their company name came up.
I want to inform everyone out there that you don't have to be ripped off by these people. I actually laugh when I receive these calls because after they give me their spill, I ask them "Now what company did you say that you were with?", usually they hang up immediately.
I would love to find out who to report them to. And now that I have a name I probably will do some research on who to report this scam to.
