I was also scammed by Whos Who Among Outstanding Middle School Sudents. My son was recognized by another honors program that was reputible so I assumed they received his test scores from the other company. We were so excited. He received a letter in the mail. We completed his biography and ordered the book with his photo, all online. I called a few times over the next few months, but they said the shipping was going to take at least 24 weeks, due to publishing. Now when I call, there is no answer, and the website is no longer active.
I am now disputing the charge to my credit card. The credit card company gave me the procedures to take to try to recover the charge. I intend to report them to the Better Business Bureau.
How awful to get a kids hopes up to recieve a plaque, book, or certificate recognizing their accomplishments and then rip their hearts out. My son was in middle school and made good grades and participated in UIL; therefore, we assumed the company was recoginizing his achievements.
