TLG Great Fun
Trilegiant ripping off consumers' credit cards using sneaky/deceptive marketing practices, and probably got you, too!

What I have found out about this company under all its fourteen names is making me boiling mad! My husband paid online a "gold" membership in Classmates.com, and TLG Great Fun sneakily insinuated itself into the sign-up process somehow; without his realizing it, he was subscribed to this supposed monthly shopping discount club and a charge of $12.99 was made to the credit card that he used to pay Classmates.com.

Because my husband almost immediately afterward suffered an unfortunate series of health issues and hospitalizations, I am only now becoming aware that this TLG Great Fun club is totally unknown to him, and he never knowingly consented to the charge to our credit card.

I have cancelled the credit card in question and contacted Trilegiant (their website is www.trilegiant.com where all their various aliases are listed - check 'em out!). Their customer rep told me we were not entitled to a refund because my husband had not only signed up for the service, he had also received a $10 rebate from them. At my insistence, she is sending me a refund form to fill out and return to them so they can determine what kind of credit we might receive. The credit, if we get one, will be made to the same account that was charged, so our bank will have to make the adjustment for us once it comes in, since the credit card has been cancelled.

What a fraud! We've never received any product nor service for all the months of charges against our accoutn! I have read elsewhere on the internet that Trilegiant has been coming under fire for its shady marketing practices since at least 2001 (probably even before that, but I stopped looking...). How can they be allowed to continue this kind of operation? They must slightly change their methods from time to time, but it all boils down to the fact that millions of people are being subscribed to their services without their knowledge. We got hit through Classmates.com, but I've read that Cheaptickets.com, AOL, and infinite other supposed legitimate businesses are allowing Trilegiant to operate through them.

Check your credit card charges, folks, and verify every item with everyone authorized to use your account, because Trilegiant seems to have infiltrated the entire internet. Good luck!
