Four years ago, as my mother aged, and dementia was setting in, her having taken the Natl. Enquirer for years previous, I discovered that the Natl. Enq. Had changed the spelling of her name SLIGHTLY and sent her many different invoices several weeks apart, confusing her into paying for about seven years IN ADVANCE. Contacting them immediately as I looked over her checks, the company first refused to speak to me, wanting only to speak to her, finally passed me around to different numbers and dept. All whom said, " it was over 30 days, so there was no refund they could do. Sorry.!!" She was placed in a group home at the end of that year, home sold, never getting another copy.
Beware! Do not pay any invoices that have misspelled your name, especially from the Natl. Enquirer. If you do it accidentally, contact them immediately and demand a refund. It's no accident! If you move, send notices to ALL contacts of a change of address. Keep close tabs on any aging parent's bill paying and check stubs, invoices.
