Hello to All, My name is Paul I'm 34 and a Police Officer, and a member of the US Air Force. I have a serious warning about public health and safety please pay attention as this is NOT A JOKE! I purchased a Timex watch model T77862 on 10-31-04 from the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) after wearing this brand new watch just 1 day. Eary in the following morning I was awaking by burning and sharp pains in my left wrist along with severe itching. I tried to take off the watch but found it to be stuck to my skin at which time I had to peel the watch off my arm, pulling away skin. My arm was bloody and clear fluid was coming out of my arm wear the watch once was. A few days later I noticed that my skin was blistering, bleeding, and being eaten away. I went to the ER and was told I was having a severe reaction to the chemicals in the watchband. I contacted Timex and advised them of this problem.
Nothing was done. I hired A lawyer and have since filed suit against Timex in Federal Court in Louisiana. We have had the watch tested and the amount of HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM in the watchband was off the charts. Chromium 6 which it is also known as is a known carcigan and causing many health problems and the poisioning from chromium 6 can be FATAL. Timex to this date has stll done nothing about this in fact they still sell these watches. The problem is Haxavalent Chromium is being used to tan the leather bands in Hong Kong because it is cheap. It is known that atleast 1% of the population as an allergy to this chemical, but the still use it because vegatiable tanning is safer but takes longer and cost more. The bottom line is Timex only cares about the dollar and not the quality of the product or if it is safe. I have put photo's of my injury on here so you can judge for yourself. Please tell everyone about this site and lets make Timex clean up there act or ban there products in the USA. Even countries overseas know Chromium is dangerous and prohibit its use in there countries, but the USA does not. WHY? Do the lawmakers here care about the citizens when third world countries ban this junk but the US does not, Whats the problem.
