Fast talking con man Brooklyn came to our door selling magazine subscriptions to help fund college students' trips overseas. We ordered three magazine subscriptions for a total of $166. He could only take a check up to $100 and needed the rest in cash. Seemed odd, should have questioned that. But I don't like door to door salespeople anyway, so I just wanted him to be on his way. That was September 30... It is now August 12. I forgot about the order, until I found the receipt in a pile of papers. There was no way to contact the company, so I tried the internet, only to find many other people who have been scammed as well. The worst part is that while I was writing a check and finding cash, he was trying to talk my 19 year old son into joining his team. He said no. I guess if he'd said yes I would have known about this scam a long time ago and I could have reported it immediately. I'm surprised these people don't come back and burgalarize our homes after they've been inside and scoped it out. I will never buy door to door again.
