HCCUA fails to fulfill their agreement of affordable health insurance

I heard of HCCUA on the internet. Being without work at the moment, and with no health insurance for myself or my family, I decided to give this company a try. I made my first mistake here. It cost me $590.00 to start with their best program (Complete Choice Enhanced 6600) $100.00 start up fee $490.00 for my first month of benefits.

The agent I talked to assured me that my coverage (health benefits including prescriptions) would start immediately after I reviewed the paperwork being sent to me (in 10 days he said). Well, they took $590.00 from my checking account that very day (June 4), and I didn't receive my package until July 10. That is 1 month and 6 days to those of you reading this. I called them on June 24, inquiring on my paperwork package (spending over an hour on hold mind you) and they told me that because they added benefits to my package, that they were running late on sending the booklet out to me. I decided after this to cancel my account with these people at this time, and spent another hour on hold in order to do so.

After going to my son doctors (he had a bad ear infection), I was told that they didn't recognize my insurance through HCCUA. Doctors appt. Is now cancelled because of this. I go home and spend another 45 minutes on the phone (on hold again) trying to find out what is wrong. HCCUA is assuring me that all is well, and that the doctors appt. Should be covered by their network. They call the clinic and make sure the network will cover appt. I get a call from clinic assuring me that everything is ok now, and now I have to go back to clinic (and wait for open spot now because appt book is full up). We finally see doctor, and now have to go get prescriptions filled for meds for sons ear infection.
We get to Walgreens and turn in prescription, and are told to come back in 1/2 hour to pick up. I come back to get meds and am promptly informed that HCCUA health insurance, has no record of my account. I pay out of pocket, over $200.00 for meds (my son is hurting and needs them) I go home and call HCCUA (ONCE AGAIN) and I am told that prescription coverage does not start until Aug 1 talking the the woman about cancelling my account, she assured me once again, that all will be taken care of. I decided to stay with them and ride out the storm.

Her I am once again, going to my middle son doctors appt., hey what a surprise, this visit is covered, they reorder his prescription (a triplicate prescription, under DEA eyes), I go to Walgreens once again to turn in this one, and now I am informed that this prescription is only eligible for a discount, not fully covered like I was told at the inception of this coverage.

This company has completly failed to fulfil its word to me when I bought the coverage.

I am now on the phone (ON HOLD AGAIN) with the cancellation dept. I have been informed that my current payment of $490.00 will be returned within 15 days of receiving it. I find it very funny that a company is so very strict on receiving their money on time, but completely unwilling to return said money until they are ready to do so.

I will now be calling/emailing the California State Insurance commission to file a formal complaint against this "So called" health insurance company.

I would hate to see anyone be as stupid as I was in looking for affordable health care through this company.
I have seen the comment left by one of this "So called" health Insurance companies representatives and would love to have the opportunity to laugh in his/her face while he/she tries to sit there and give anyone (including me) a bunch of bull, trying to explain what they do, and how they do it. I have learned first hand that what they say and what they do are Two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.

I will follow up on this post as soon as I find out what this Health Insurance companies idea of 15 days is. If their idea of 15 days is anything like their idea of affordable health insurance, I will probably get my money by Aug. 5, if at all... Robert H. Fairfield, Ca.
