After being presented with documentary proof and testimony of questionnable practices in his company, Emilio Estefan and Estefan Enterprises made no attempt to explain, excuse or apologise to me, singer Dalva D. Not even a thank you.
Instead, they instructed their lawyers to write a non-confidential letter to my associate to confirm receipt of the information and to state that they would neither admit nor deny its veracity nor explain their understanding of events.

"This letter is written in response to your request to bring to Mr Emilio Estefan's attention the information outlined in your emails to me of June 22, July 2 and July 6. As you requested, your email of June 22nd along with all of the other emails and materials attached thereto pertaining to Ms Dalva D (collectively the "Material") have been brought to Mr. Estefan's personal attention and reviewed by him. The allegations expressed in the Material are taken very seriously by our clients, Mr. Estefan and Estefan Enterprises, Inc. Please be advised that this letter is not intended to address nor refute all the allegations you and Ms. Dalva D have outlined in the Material, nor is this letter intended to explicate (sic) all of our clients' positions regarding the same."

So having been told about some serious issues within his organisation which had affected the rights and livelihood of third parties including myself, Mr Estefan's lawyers indicated "no comment".
They then went on from this to contradict themselves in the next 3 paragraphs by making some bald statements and to state by implication that the Material they said had been given to Mr Estefan was false, defamatory and slanderous and demanding that I must cease to talk or write about the matter, or I would be subjected to vigorously prosecuted legal action.

"Demand is hereby made that you immediately cease and desist from continuing to publish and disseminate false, defamatory and slanderous accusations regarding Estefan Enterprises, Inc., Mr Amadeo and/or any employee of the Estefan Enterprises, Inc.organisation.in the event you do not heed our demand, be advised that appropriate legal and/or equitable action will be instituted and vigorously prosecuted to protect and enforce our clients' rights."

Let us be clear, no false information was sent to Mr Estefan by me. My documents given to him were clear and irrefutable. Testimony given to him was from reliable sources and was presented as testimony and not documentary proof.
Up to that time I had never published nor disseminated any of the information that I had sent to him.
Any reasonable person would ask why such an absurdly heavy response was being given to a very confidential and friendly attempt to inform Mr Estefan of activities in his company that he appeared, at the time, to have been unaware of.
He was someone for whom I had the utmost respect; someone who had sent me a friendly letter complimenting me on my work, so I had tried to inform him of serious matters quietly and confidentially, with no thought of personal gain. All I expected was a thank you and a reasonable explanation of what had happened to me at the hands of his employees.
Why, when presented with detailed evidence and testimony, did Mr Estefan say, through his lawyers, that he chose to offer no response other than to take legal action if I told anyone about it?
The usual response would be to offer to look into the matter, and get back to me with either an explanation of what would be done to rectify the situation, or an explanation of where he felt I was in error.
But no. Almost as soon as he had received the "Material" he tried to put a gag on me.
Could it be that he wanted to keep me quiet because he knew the information was true and not because he thought it was false?
I felt so let down and deceived.
I was really shaken to my core by the charge that I was a liar.
It has taken a year for me to come to terms with the realisation that the picture of the man that I and everyone else had such respect for - the affable golden hearted producer who tries to help Latin artists; our hero of the music world was, in fact, just an illusion. He had treated my heartfelt attempt to help him with arrogance and contempt.
Well despite being threatened, I have now published some of the information, which you can see on www.dalva-d. Blogspot.com.
(Estefan Enterprises and Emilio's lawyers being the first to be advised by me of the fact, as is the case also with this report)
I am still waiting to be vigorously prosecuted.

It was very hard for me to accept (and it still hurts) that it was Emilio who had instructed that this letter be sent to me.
