Outboard, Custom Machine Shop, Inc., CMSI Lied to us and have Stolen our Propeller, Cheated us out of money, lied about the RODS, kept our PROPELLER and TIME, MONTHS was to be a week turnaround - POOR Quality rebuild, USES ZIPTIES RATHER THAN METAL CLAMPS

We were quoted a one week turnaround and a cost of $2650 which has turned into a several month adventure which started in April and is still ongoing and it is June 28 without resolution and right now costing $3350, plus what it will cost to replace our propeller that they kept!

The engine was picked up 4/15/08 by the trucking company, and received by CMSI on 4/21/08 according to their records. During the powerhead overhaul we were told we had a bad rod & reed valve costing us $345 more than originally quoted since these items weren't included in the overhaul. The rep "Angel" told us he sent what was included in the overhaul (part list), but never received this document. After many, many phone calls checking on the motor repair schedule, asking what was the hold up? Were we told one week! So finally, it was repaired and ready for shipment back about the 7th of May, but was going to cost us more!

So the total was @ $3000 - and then find out it is CASH ONLY! No credit card accepted! So reluctanly we wired them the money, but just wanted our motor back as soon as possible.

So funds were sent 5/8/08, then finally CMSI shipped the motor on 5/16/08 and we received it 5/27/08, costing us another $350 for return shipping.

SO... We are happy to have our motor back... Then we start to inspect it and found the motor came back with cracks/damage on the motor housing and motor cover (cosmetic right). So we have to put the wiring back etc. But not before we have to go to the hardware store to buy the wiring bolts/assembly bolts that the shop kept - just sloppy.

Then we are trying to get it started in our driveway, check that it was working ok and finally got it started, then noticed on most of the rubber lines they used ZIP-TIES to attach them rather than metal clamps - now thats CHEAP!

We thought we were paying good money for a quality overhaul and now we know we were swindled, being 1st time boat owners.

Ok so now we want to go test our rebuilt motor on the water, but can't because the kept our PROPELLERr, which is not a common one for our older boat and very expensive.

So we call and call and get a hold of "Angel" and he tells us for three weeks, "IT IS IN THE MAIL", IT SHOULD BE THERE ANY DAY NOW", "BY NEXT WEEK"... Then called him and asked for the tracking number, etc and THEN he tells me he doesn't know it, has to get ahold of the driver that handles that function and he promises to call back and doesn't, so call him again-the same answer NOTHING!

I have called, left messages, sent a complaint to their website-with no resolution!

My advice to others - be smart always find someone locally - we will never send anything to another state to be fixed again!

BE WARNED ABOUT THEIR NAME, THE QUALITY AND THEIR CLAIM FOR 5YR WARRANTY... Their name is the same at a glance as another company in another state, their quality is lacking, if the can't build it right the first time how can you trust a warranty of any kind... The are dishonest, untrustworthy and should not be in business. Nothing is what they had claimed!
