False Job oppertunitys!

So this is my story. I just recently graduated college and am thrilled when I submit my resumes to these companys for employment. After all, I just recieved my marketing degree and I'm ready to jump right out and be gainfully employed in my field of degree.

I recieve a call from thier receptionist (Candise) who say's to me, I was calling in refrence to your resume that you submitted via the carrer builders website, we would love to bring you in for a preliminary interview tommorow if you are available.

I am now excited and say to her, Can I please get a little more information from you before I come in? She say's, sure, what information are you looking for? I reply, Im looking for starting base salary and benifit information on your company. She reply's that she dosn't have that information as it would be based on education and experience, but the hiring manager will be able to go over all of that when you come in to meet with them. I then ask her what exactly the job description was and the requirments. She then hedges and gives me the same answer, the hiring manager will be able to discuss all of these with me when I meet with them. I then proceed to ask her the name of the hiring manager to whom I could adress a cover letter to, she responds, Christian or Cristan I believe. So I set my interview up for the next day at 11 am.

I arrive exactly at 10:50 and am greeted by the receptionist answering the phone mouthing to me she will be with me in just one moment. So I take a seat, and as she hangs up the phone she ask's me for my resume. I give it to her and she highlights my name in this ratty appointment book that look's like a bank giveaway prize.
She then tell's me to have a seat and the manager will be right out to speak with me.

So after another 30 minutes in the (extremley filthy) waiting room I am brought back to a (sickly shade of) Purple office room, and I do use the word office lightly. I am then told about how the are a event marketing company and the do the advertising for companys that do not wish to use the media for advertising, and there hand's on approach put's the product into the consumer's hands in a way that traditional advertising does not.

I am then asked about my career choice and buisness/leadership skill's. Assuming that this woman even took the time to read my resume which is highly doubtful.

I am then asked to come back the next day for shadowing an event to see if I would be a good fit for the company. So I get up and shake her hand and proceed back to waiting area to exit the "Company". As I am walking out to my car I overhear a conversation from a woman that was comming back from one of thier "Events" and she is practically yelling into her cell phone about what a scam this was. I wait until she hang's up and I approach her and ask if I can ask her about her experience.

She say's to me to run and dont come back, They had me standing outside of a grocery store selling plastic waterbottles for the so called DARE Program and only 5% of it was even going to the charity. She tell's me she has never been taken in by such a scam of this magnitute before, and that IF I'm smart, I will take my degree and find an actual marketing job because this is nothing more than a low level sales job.

So when I get home, I call thier office back and I ask the receptionist what I would be doing the next day for my shadow day, and she tell's me that she assumes I will be places with a team leader to shadow the buisness. I ask her if I will be compinsated for this day, and she tell's me that shadow days are volunteer only. Pay is only discussed after youv'e been accepted for the position.

The most hysterical thing about all of this is that I actually applied for a warehouse position for the summer and this company dosn't even have a warehouse. And the woman who was ranting on her phone outside had actually applied for a administrative assistant position. So I'm sure you can figure out what kind of scam they are running here. Preying on people who are looking for a serious position with a reputable company. Apply at your own risk, But McDonald's will at least offer you benifit's. This place has none.
