I received a letter in the mail along with a check for $4,738 from this company stating they were a secret shopping employment firm. I was to contact a Linda Peterson immediately if I was interested in this. I did contact them and spoke with 2 different people. They assured me over and over that this was a legitimate company and that I had nothing to worry about. They did not pressure me into doing anything, they even told me to take a couple of days to think about it if I was skeptical. I even told them that my bank would probably place a hold on their check to make sure it cleared the account and they said no problem that they expected that and it would be absolutely okay. So, the trusting person that I am I deposited the check and my bank looked at the check and thought it was fine so they did not place a hold on it. I withdrew $1900 and went and did the first transaction like it said to do in my letter. After doing so I had a very sick feeling and I called "Mary" back and told her I was going to wait until the check cleared her account and as long as everything was okay I would proceed. She said no problem, just let her know when I was ready to proceed. Yesterday, 6 days after depositing the check my bank called and said there was a stop payment placed on the check that I had deposited. I immediately called Consumer Marketing and again spoke to Mary and she assured me that this was a mistake and she would get it cleared up. I called 2 hours later and spoke to another lady and she said they were going to either wire me the money or send me money by express mail but they would let me know by the end of the day. Guess what, no call and have tried today probably 40 times with no answer. Don't make the same mistake i did. Now i have to pay that money back to the bank. I hope these people get caught.
