I will try and explain this and maybe someone else can explain it to me.

My wife made a purchase for $32.88 on 9 June with the debit card. It was debited and put on hold that day which caused an overdraft for a $4.85 charge that was processed on the 9th. They charged me $35 for this. I can bite the bullet and pay this even though it would have been covered the next day (money coming in).

Low and behold, I check my account the next morning and they processed the $32.88 again and charged my another $35 for overdraft. Basically, they put $32.88 on hold on the 9th long enough to put me in overdraft for the $4.85, then took it out and left me with a balance of $29. They then processed it the next day and since I only had $29, they charged me $35 again.

Their reasoning, it was put on hold (charge my account) then the merchant was paid (charge my account). My question, why take it out twice. Either take in out on the 9th, charge me, or take it out on the 10th, everything would have been paid with no fees.

They stole $70 from me... I told them I'm sure I'm a small fish in the pond but we will be closing our account with them.
