I received a letter on Friday that informed me I was selected to be a secret shopper (yeaahhh me). I did not find this at all unusual because I had actually filled out applications to do that very thing! It included a check in the amount of $3975 and a list of instructions. My boyfriend and I both searched for anything on the company that issued the check as well as the company that issued the letter. We found NOTHING so I contacted Ms. Selena Brown as instructed, she was very professional and she told me to CASH the check and call her back for the next step in my assignment.
I go to the bank the check was drawn on, and asked them to cash it. They inspected the check, cashed it, and THEN noticed that the numeral amount $3975 was not the same as the written amount on the check $3550, the teller then told me they could give me the written amount of the check but not the total $3975. I told them to return the check to me, and I returned the cash and said I would rather have them cash a corrected check. They said they would reverse the transaction and see me when I get the reissued check.
I didnt want anyone getting into any trouble over it. I returned to work and I contacted Ms. Selena Brown told her of the error on the check (Again she was very professional) she apologized and told me to return the check to the address on the letter and they would reissue me a corrected check...
THEN I FIND THIS SITE!!! So I still have my check, and I still have my bank account! I just hope I wont get arrested for attempting to cash a forged check!
