Sneeky and deceptive! Tracy California

What rip - off artists!!!

I took a ring into Ybarra Brothers Jewelers to have it resized and rhodiumed. When I went to pick it up it had been resized but not rhodiumed. I told the saleswoman about it and I was told to wait a minute and they would do it.

I got it back in a plastic bag that had a receipt attached to it approximately 10 minutes later and was told it was done. I should have looked at it but I have had work done there before and trusted them. When I got it home I realized that there was still a lot of gold showing through. It's a large waterfall ring so there are a lot of deep creases and that's where the gold was showing.

I called them on 4/25/08 to let them know what had happened and the saleswoman told me to bring it back in. I asked on the phone if there would be a charge and she told me if it was from wear then yes there would be but if it was just from it being done improper then it would be redone for free. I took it in on 4/26/08 and she looked at it and absolutely agreed that it had just been done improperly. If it was wear, the bottom of the ring would have shown gold too. I then asked again if there would be a charge and was told no.

I do not know her name but I do know her initials are XS as they are on my receipt. I went in yesterday to pick up my ring and was told I would be charged $48.00. There were 3 men there and the saleswoman I had originally delt with. I camly explained to one of the men that she had said it would be done for free. He then asked me how long it had been since it was originally done. I told him I did not know but it had been awhile. They looked it up and said it had been 5 months and that, that was too long to get it redone for free. I then told him that this was not at all what I had been told.

I looked right at her and said you looked at the ring and agreed it was done improper. She agreed right in front of everyone that she had said that. I also said to her that she had told me twice that it would be redone for free and she then proceeded to lie outright. She said she did not say it would be done for free.

I had a friend with me at the time I dropped it off and she heard the saleswoman say it would be done at no charge. So, the salesman kept telling me how expensive rhodium is and that I needed to pay. I told him that it was not at all fair and I certainly would not have come back to them if I would have known they were going to recharge me. Finally he said he would split the cost with me. I had no choice to pay him because he would have kept my wedding ring.

He charged my card $25.00. While this was all going on, one of the other salesmen took the bag the ring was in (I thought to look at it) and when I got it back at the top they had written $48.00. This was NOT there before.

I had also taken a watch in there to see what was wrong with it and specifically told them to NOT do anything with it until they called me first. The receipt even states call. I'm so glad I called to see what was going on because the saleswoman said they were just getting ready to ship it out to be fixed. Without my permission.

After asking around, I now am hearing terrible stories about these same things happening to other people who have had work done there. Here is a link about someone who had severe problems with them: http://usacomplaints.com/reports/0/193/RipOff0193502.htm

I would like my $25.00 back. The sad part is that I have many items I had planned on taking to them and now they are loosing way more money by doing this.
