In 2006 my wife received a call from Oak Street Mortgage and they claimed to be able to beat our Country Wide home loan and quoted (verbally) better rates. We were looking to take out a little equity but save on interest.
I went away on a trip, gave my wife "powr of attorney" and of course we got screwed on the % of interest. We went from a $2600.00 per month mortgage with escrow with Country Wide to $3800.00 with out escrow.
If legal could help middle america, that would be nice.
