I am the owner of a land surveying company in St. Louis and had been contacted by SURVEY AMERICA of Evansville, IN., to subcontract land surveys in the St. Louis area. After negotiating fees and delivery schedules, we received contracts and notices to proceed from SURVEY AMERICA. These surveys were executed and completed in a timely manner and the final survey plats were accepted and approved by SURVEY AMERICA.
It seems however that SURVEY AMERICA and owner Patrick Hocking have a huge problem paying for the surveys that we performed and delivered to them on schedule.
The first survey was ordered and completed in May and after several repeated calls for payment we finally received a check about 7 months after it was due.
The second survey that we completed in September STILL HAS NOT BEEN PAID FOR. Once again we have contacted the owner of SURVEY AMERICA, Patrick Hocking (he is very seldom in the office) and have left approximately 10 voice messages and have not had one return call. We have contacted other employees about payment and been told that only Patrick Hocking can get us paid. I was able to talk to Mr. Hocking by phone after I made a trip to Evansville to collect. He was not in the office (as usual) but he told me by phone that he does not have any money and is not sure when I will be paid. Now keep in mind that SURVEY AMERICA has been paid by their client for the survey that they subcontracted to my firm! Yet they refuse to pay me for this survey.
Attention all land surveyors across the country, SURVEY AMERICA of Evansville, IN is a very slow payer OR they may not pay you at all. I would highly suggest that you NOT subcontract land survey work from them. They receive payment for the surveys and DO NOT pay their subcontractors!
