Disabled veteran workforce over 40 No Longer Welome

In the not too distant past, patriotic Americans honored our elders and we honored those who fought, got injured, or died for our freedom: veterans.
Well, thanks to the new order promoted by the media, veterans are not honored nor our elders. Thanks to the media, praise now goes to the Young. That is, anyone under 40, especially in the workplace. More and more managers and executives have authority over people with more living experience than themselves.
And, specifically at Target in North Carolina, the disabled veteran workforce over 40 is No Longer Weclome.
I came to that conclusion when I heard, through the grapevine, that my best friend who has worked for Target for 11 years is being forced out. Why? Target wants a younger person to replace my best friend. Why? Young employees work for less money, and accept fewer benefits.
Funny thing though, when my best friend was initially offered a job with Target, Target knew already that he was a Disabled American Veteran. Target did not mind. Why? They wanted his talent, expertise, and leardership developed in him by the military. And, I'll bet that Target took one of those Income Tax credits for hiring a disabled veteran. Oh, the hypocrisy.
"We want you out, " says the Management representative behind closed doors. You're no longer able to do the physical work needed in your job." Funny thing again, the under-35 executive is not a licensed physician. On top of that when my best friend began to feel that he was being pushed out, my best friend noticed that he was now required to give a status report on his health. "In my previous years with Target, that was never the case, " my best friend told me.
My best friend has learned through the grapevine, as I have, that he no longer gets praises on his Employee Reviews. Funny thing again, the employment reviews showed nothing less than a Top Gun until the Under 40 Executives got the idea that they only wanted under 40 people at Target.
But, the reality is that this is not funny at all. And, if we continue to give Target our money when shopping there, Target will become nothing but a money machine with youth in charge. And, with youth, there is Energy, Creativity, Push, Drive, and Ambition but a lack of good judgment based on experience. And, I for one, never want to see an airline pilot walk into an aircraft with a earphones plugged into his ear while listening to Gangsta Rap music. I'd rather see an airline pilot walk in with authority and respect for everyone on board and I only expect to experience that scene when the pilot has some gray hair on his/her head because he/she has judgment based on experience, not Youth.
