Ok so last year I was in an almost fatal collision w/my three kids in the car. So I needed a new car. My credit not being all that great but also not very bad I went to Drivetime without knowing what I know now! I went in after checking their inventory online an spoke w / the salesperson about a Mitsubishi Montero.
My husband and I were both there and they told us they couldn't finance us for the Montero but could get us in a great car, however we were looking for something with a little room in it. So we were going to go to another dealership.
They then so miraculously find a SUV at another DT dealership and ask if we wouldn't mind taking a look at it, we didn't like it, did some research and found out the vehicle was a concept vehicle that had been discontinued. When I brought up my concerns about the vehicle they kept selling me on the look and the features.
I bring the vehicle home and three days later the brakes fail with my three kids inside. I call the dealership and the Salesman has quit! They then tell me that I can bring the car to them and pay them a $40 diagnostic fee to check it out. I then suck this one up and have the brakes fixed myself. Making a very long story short it has now been only a year exactly of me having the vehicle and now the tranny has blown.
I have been on time with every payment until the tranny went out. I asked them if we could get our payment for the month deferred they said yes. Then when I didn't pay the first time they started calling my husband's job and my references as if they had no knowledge of the situation.
They also told me in order for me to get the deferment I would have to bring them the car and let them check it out to make sure the tranny was blown, or prove to them that I was getting the car fixed during that period. I told them I had the car looked at by a certified Isuzu mechanic and could fax their corporate office the documents and they told me. Corp wouldn't accept an outside mechanic opinion. I refuse to pay them anything based on the fact that they not only sold me a lemon, but they broke a verbal promise to me and I am tired of them calling 17 times a day as if I am their only customer. Seems like at this point I probably am!
What's a great couple like us to do? I've also filed a report with the BBB about their services.
