Recently, high production costs to print magazines have forced a similar high rise in subscription prices, losing them revenue.
Whereas some of these mags have offered online digital access to content as part of the subscription, they are now offering a digital only subscription through newsstand.com.
This site is hard to use and forces the user to download a proprietary reader to the computer (never a good sign). User pays a subscription fee, but beware the small print in the TOS. You may only download an issue one time. If you even ATTEMPT to download a second time (even if there is an error), you are charged an additional $10! This is 1/5th the yearly subscription cost. How arrogant and typical of the way business is currently being conducted in the USA.
There is only one email address available to keep customers from complaining up the ladder, so when you send an email to [email protected], you must be prepared to wait quite a long time to hear from them. And don't expect any sympathy or real assistance. Only prompts to "read the TOS."
Beware.
