The TV ad on 12/31/08 said "Buy one, get one free for $10!" So I ordered one unit online, receiving an e-mail confirmation that the merchandise would be shipped within 4-6 weeks. When it wasn't received by March 4, I called to cancel the order because of lack of delivery (and availability at the local Bed Bath & Beyond for $9.99, saving delivery charges). I was told by 'Kami' that the "merchandise had been back-ordered, and was shipped yesterday", making cancellation impossible. No response as to why I wasn't advised of the back-order status.
On March 5 a charge for $51.80 appeared on my account. I again called the customer service number, located in Wisconsin, questioning how a total of 2 units (one free) cost 5 times the price quoted on TV. They shipped 2 orders totalling FOUR units, cost $20, charging $7.95 EACH for shipping, or $31.80. When I told her I would refuse delivery and expect a refund, she said the most I would get was $20.
It was obvious from the chronology that twice the items were shipped AFTER my first call to cancel, that shipping 4 items was deliberate, and that TV ad was deliberately misleading to charge outrageous shipping.
