I recently used Intelius.com to try and find a long lost friend. Not only was the information they sold me incorrect but then a week later, I see a charge on my bank statement $19.95. I called the number of the company that charged me and found that it was a company called "Your Privacy Matters", an identity monitoring website.
I was told that they had been given my credit card information by Intelius and that I had approved a service to protect my identity using their service. I told them that I had never approved this and demanded my money back.
How ironic our personal credit card information is being given or sold to a company that protects you from Identity Theft.
This can't be legal...
