I signed on to emusic.com for 35 free music downloads offered through Toshiba when I received my new notebook. The Emusic site insists on that the consumer has to enter a credit card number. I not only did not ask for an account, I never authorized emusic.com to charge my account.
The toll free number provided to cancel the "subscription" provides an email address to cancel "http//: emusic.com/account/cancel.html", when I tried to cancel through this web address, I was immediately taken to sign in to my emusic account. The toll free number also has an option to cancel by phone, but when I enter option 3, I am referred to go online to cancel, or to write to emusic somewhere in New York.
Please report this incident as I have also tried the BBB to no avail. I believe I am going to have to file a fraudulence claim with my Credit Union. Thank you.
