I worked for 7 months in this "company" and believe me, drank the "Kool-Aid." What everyone else has said about this chain of scamming sales companies is 100% true.
First off, not everything is bad. I should say not everyONE is bad. The people were the best part. The owner, Phil became a great friend of mine and I still to this day think very highly of him.in fact I believe the reason he wasn't incredibly successful and eventually quit himself, was because he was too ethical to succeed in this business, as opposed to his mentor, Ken Lear.
A lot of young, spirited, motivated people became good friends, the only problem was they could be your only friends, because work became your life, AND they all would eventually quit, so all of the sudden you'd lose your best friends.
The sales part of it is very un-ethical. Since you are paid only on commission, and your movement up the company pyramid is purely based on sales numbers, there is great incentive to sell a lot. The problem is you are incentivized to screw over customers. Unlimited long distance to people who don't call long distance, internet to those with no computers, you name it, a blind-eye was turned as long as you "rang the bell." It came as no surprise to me when True Solutions was caught selling ULD to a 96 year old woman and put on TV. It could have been anyone in that entire office that got caught, because they all do it.
The management side of things is what motivates you to stay. "Within 6-12 months, you'll be earning $150,000 per year as a 23 year old, within 4-5 years, you'll be earning MILLIONS!!!" Funny how all of 5 people in 14 years have reached that status. When you've been at a company for 5 months, and you're the longest tenured person at the company, you have to realize something is wrong. WAKE UP!
I witnessed this company, more this lifestyle ruin many a personal relationship. People in the company if they want to succeed, simply can't have time for anyone else in their lives. To think I had listened to my family and friend's advice all my life and when they questioned WHAT THE HELL are you doing with your life, I laughed and told them I'd be a millionaire. Because thats what I was told to tell them. We were taught not only sales rebuttals, but family/friend rebuttals.
I have always had good credit and no money problems. Yet... Within my 4 months in Greensboro (I moved from Nashville to open a new office), I lived in 3!!! Different places and was evicted from one apartment. Not to mention the endless gas bills, wear and tear on my car, and CELL PHONE bills because none of this is reimbursed.
The point is, CYDCOR does a great job of building a cult mentality: "If you don't succeed at this and run your own business, you will fail at life living/working in a cubicle for someone else." My favorite line was from Michael Sessions, Org. Consultant, "Happy hour is for people who hate their jobs and lives so much they have to go drink after work." I have now been loving happy hours for over a year, and I love life, and I love work in a nice, comfortable office, not screwing anyone over.
The favorite movie of the company is "Boiler Room." This is because of the use of many of the same sales tactics. However, lets remember that the point of Boiler Room is that THE WHOLE COMPANY IS RUNNING A SCAM! There is no difference here.
We used to read these usacomplaints.com in our office and laugh about how naive these people were and they were just bitter b/c they couldn't cut it. One more rebuttal of the cult mentality. I was making it, was successful, and left on my own terms for my greater happiness and that of my family and friends. Don't get sucked in!!
