I started working for Premier Home Show in September. I was told that it was a very lucrative sales job. I was offered a $1200 draw twice per month. It wasn't enough to live off of but I imagined it would keep my head above water and the commission checks werent far off.
My job was to prospect and sell home builders a 30 minute infomercial which would air in 60-90 days. Once a builder signed up another sales rep would travel to the builders location and solicit funds from the builders subcontractors and vendors in order to pay for the show.
Everything seemed great and the business concept was interesting and fresh.
As time went on though it became apparent that Premier Home Show was undercapitalized if not insolvent. It was peter robbing paul. We would start a new job and the funds collected would go towards the last one.
December 1st rolled around and everyones paychecks came 10 days late. Then the 15th came and paychecks didn't come at all.By Christmas I had only been paid $1400 and couldn't keep up with my bills. My wife's and my cell phones were shut off, we were 3 months behind on our mortgage and car payments and we could no longer afford daycare.
When the staff came back from christmas break, there were still no paychecks and nearly the entire office quit.
I am posting this for 2 reasons.
*I want to warn potential builders/clients of this companies mismanagement of funds, history of non performance and lack of ethical judgement
*This company is still hiring new sales people and telemarketers. Hiring and not paying is a common business practice to this organization. I would hate for someone to be lured in and stuck in the same spot financially as I am.
