I was hired as a seasonal employee at the Northwest Arkansas Mall 'Things Remembered' location, I submitted my application the last week of November and started on the third of December. I was told I would be getting a paycheck for my work within the first two weeks, when the two weeks were up I got nothing.
Both the store manager and myself have tried to contact our regional manager for the last week or so and she hasn't been answering her phone.
My utilities are being shut off one by one, I told them how badly I needed this check that they promised me, they wouldn't even let me borrow money out of the store's petticash box to pay my bills (to b repaid upon receiving my actual check, as I have done at prior jobs when it was needed.) I asked if they could just print out my check and fed-ex it to me, they refused. Again, this is a simple method of pay that all of my past employers have done for people including myself.
I've been there nearly a month and they outright refuse to pay me for my work. I've contacted the corporate office multiple times and all they can say is "Oh well, " or "there's nothing I can do."
Apparently Things Remembered doesn't realize that refusing to pay your employees for their work is illegal.
