Being a single mother is hard enough... But when your bank is slowly robbing you of your hard earned and much needed money... This is an outrage.in the last two weeks, 5/3rd bank has deducted over $700 from my checking account.
I knew my rent was coming up, and I also knew that I didnt have the full amount in my checking to cover it. So, being on a limited income, I filled my gas tank, picked up a few items from the grocery store, and withdrew $50 from the ATM. I had $400 in my account at the time I made these transactions.
When my rent was deducted automatically, as it is every month, my account went negative... Like I knew it would. Which is why I made the purchases I did to cover the things I would need for the week for myself and my daughter.instead of only charging me one overdraft fee for my rent not being fully there, they charged me multiple times for the transactions I made 7 days prior when the money WAS available. So I am being penalized hundreds of dollars for using MY money that most definitly WAS AVAILABLE!
While speaking with 5/3rd customer service I was told that if there are any transactions pending, they will ALWAYS deduct the largest one first.
So, I made three transactions and then seven days later my rent came out and instead of them posting the transactions I made with funds available, they waited for the larger one to go through and THEN the three smaller ones. I was charged four seperate overdraft fee's and six dollars a day until my account became positive again.
As I said, I am a single mother, I receive no financial help from anyone, and this ordeal has cost me my ENTIRE last two and a half paychecks. Leaving me no money for food, gas, bills or rent.
5/3rd bank is absolutly ripping off their customers. It is an outrage the way that this bank is literally STEALING from hard working people.
Something has to be done.
