Add me to the list of innocent victims of the Great Fun credit card scam!
I booked a hotel room from Hotwire.com and was offered a rebate. When I found out the supposed rebate was actually a survey/membership offer, I closed the browser window. I never gave them personal information, especially credit card information. Two months later I find out Great Fun is hitting my American Express credit card for $11.99 a month. I never even received notification that I had somehow enrolled. (I didn't, of course).
I called Great Fun and they basically said "tough luck". If you want a refund you have to contact our board of appeals. When I said I never filled out any form or gave them my credit card, they said information provided by Hotwire.com is their's to use as they see fit.
I contacted Hotwire.com to protest their giving my credit card info to Great Fun. Hotwire.com said it was impossible for that to happen. I told Hotwire.com someone in their organization is giving away that information. Great Fun acknowledged that fact.
American Express reversed the charges by Great Fun. That is the only part of the scam that is satisfactory to me. As I write this tonight I have not heard from Hotwire.com, even though I advised them of this website, with the entries against Great Fun and asked them to forward the information to their legal department.
All of us who have been ripped off by Great Fun, need to charge the businesses which hosted the Great Fun ads, to generate their scam, as knowing accomplices.
