On May 31, we closed on our house they were trying to get us to close before we had power. Jason Huffman, Manager, informed us that we would not have power that weekend but he had family that worked for pike electric and we would have power Monday June 4th. We moved out of our rental and stayed with a friend that weekend. Monday we still had no power, we called Jason and he said he was working on getting us power. All the construction to our home came to a complete stop. Once they closed and recieved their money, go figure!!! I had to work with the power company myself and they said we would have power June 7th. We had power by Wednesday after calling corporate that I was refused the number to. I had to get a friend to get me their number. The Vice President of the company Dennis Parrish said he was going out of town and would meet us the following week to discuss our concerns. We met with Jason and Dennis the following week as requested and he said he wanted to get this home fixed right away to our satisfaction because he did not want to have to build us a new home. I found six pages of issues in my home. He took my list and had Trish a Sales Rep with Southern Showcase to type them up and send to the company. They never did a walk through with me I did it myself.
All the doors in the house are crooked. There are holes in the walls. We asked for the upgraded carpet and what we have feels like lawn turf. We have the best insulation package and have cheap windows with all the tabs broken, not thermal payne like we thought we were going to have. We ordered a fireplace and its bowing in the center, not flush against the wall, its off its plate and you can stick a hand behind it on one side. We picked about our patio for weeks about getting a bigger one built and when the home arrived it had two windows and a back porch. We argued with them about this and Jason said we would have to pay half to have a sliding glass doors there. They finally put the door there and 45 days later still have not completed the trim. Where they cut the door our vinyl siding is messed up and torn.in the middle of the night I heard a loud crash and I ran in the kitchen to see what had happened. The light fixture had crashed and broke on the center Island where my daughter eats her snacks and they have not fixed that yet. The carpet is already worn where the carpet meets the leno. We have been here around 45 days. There are numerous dents in the floor. You can stick your finger completely down the floor in my childrens bedroom.in my kitchen every cabinet and drawer is crooked. I asked for a built in hutch and they put another set of crooked cabinets there. My microwave is not level the food comes to the front of the bowl when you cook something in it. There are numerous nails showing, balls of foam, and light socket that the microwave is plugged into is coming completely out of the wall. The microwave works when it wants to. I was supposed to have a deep dish sink and single lever fouset and I got the cheap shallow sink and the faucet base wiggles. You can see finishing nails in numorous places. When you walk in the door in the entry way the cheap trim is coming off the wall. The bathroom shower was installed wrong and you have to stand at the door to take a shower. The toilet wiggles. When we moved in, there were pipes in our family room. There was water in our vents and there is no water pressure in the spare bathroom so I'm guessing there is still a leak somewhere. When the cable guy came to install our cable the brick foundation under my home collapsed. They would not call me about this issue and a week later they repaired it and left mortor all over the house and ground. There is no telling where else it's like this under the home. They did an aweful job on our yard there is a misquito pit beside my house and a dirt wall. Glenn (our sales person) informed me that he got introuble for ordering our house because it was too big for our piece of land. They also discontinued this model.
This is just to name a FEW of the issues with this home.
The contractor for Giles contacted my husband July 18 to set up a time to meet and discuss repairs. Johnnie (my husband) informed him that Saturday would be good. The contractor said he would contact him to set up a time. He never called and showed up Saturday and looked around he had a list half the size of what I sent Giles. He told Southern Showcase that we denied work to our home which was a lie. We informed him we were seeking an attorney and he said if we did not want him to work on our home to give him a call. We did not call.
