Based on the TurboTax website information, I purchased the desktop version of the software. On the home page of the website, it clearly states that efile for Federal Tax is included in the purchase price. This is not true.
When it came time to efile, I was prompted for a credit card. I stopped and called customer support (which, btw, appears to have been outsourced to India or Pakistan). I was told that efile was not free.
This is blatant unethical behavior and false advertising. Do not be taken in.
Go to taxfreedom.com. If your income is below a certain level, you can do your taxes online and efile for free, having your refund deposited directly into your bank account.
