I was contacted by a man named Russel Kindersley from a company called Guardian Financial. He informed me that he found my online application for a personal loan and that his company was able to find me a lender. He said that I was approved for a $5,000 loan. To receive my loan I would first have to put up $900 in collateral. He faxed me all of the documents to sign and fax back to him.
When I called him back he was not in his office. I reached another man who sounded a lot like Russel. He told me that he would be the one taking care of my account. I was instructed to wire the money to Alberta Canada using Money Gram. He even told me to use the Money Gram at Wal Mart. I was told that my loan would be deposited into my bank account 24 hours after my deposit was received.
The following day I got a call from Andy Scott, some sort of manager at Guardian Financial. He said that there was a problem with my loan and I would have to send them an additional $1000. I was very alarmed and called my boss. She researched the company and found numerous complaints about Guardian Financial, stating it was a scam.
I called Andy Scott back and asked for a refund. He assured me it was not a problem but I would have to wait until the 24th which was their company pay cycle. That was a MAJOR red flag. It made no sense that I would have to wait that long.
He kept calling me for days after reminding me that my account was still open and the loan still available. I declined and said that I would still rather the refund.
Well don't ya know it is the 26th and I have yet to see my refund. I called the Guardian Financial this morning and as soon as I said my name he hung up on me.
Please do not trust these people. I have filed many complaints with the Alberta police which is where I sent my deposit. I will not stop until these people pay.
