I have talked at length with members of our local FBI field office and they have informed me that "step 1" in battling these criminals is public awareness. Because the money involved is stolen in small incriments and each case has to be treated individually, your government has neither the time, manpower or resources to procecute each case at the federal level. They leave investigation of these crimes up to local authorities who maintain jurisdiction. Even though mail fraud is a federal offence. There are local postal investigators that those of you who have been defrauded can contact. If I may be so bold as to give unsolicited advice... You must band together and take control for yourselves by alerting local authorities when you have been defrauded or an attempt has been made to defraud you. Get the word out.
