After reading all the reports about this company it makes me wish I'd come here first. I too went to work for Dave Levin. What a mistake it was to do so.
My interview was quick, and I came in a suit. Fresh out of college I wanted to impress. I was in turn impressed that it was an office full of kids like me and I was not going to be told what to do by a dinosaur. It also gave me the impression that i could run a office too.
What's worse is that when I took the job I moved into Dave's house. That was a trip. For someone making 6 figures he lived like a poor college student. Yeah he had a big TV and drove a $20k truck, but he didn't have a lot of furniture and didn't even own the house.
It was like a frat house for those that didn't get into one in college. My roommate Brian would pretend to be asleep when I brought a girl home. Mike slept all day every Sunday (the only day we didn't work 12 hours), and John's girlfriend had as much maturity as my little sister's baby toe. John was the only guy in the house I had any respect for.
Dave's girlfriend was cute. He didn't deserve her. He constantly disrespected her in front of people at the office and belittled her to no end. I hope you're not still with him Mary.
The job sucked! I was taught to ignore no solicitation signs, give kids toys so they would cry when I took it away, and even sell broken products to any idiot that would buy it. I was pretty good at it too. Once in a while I even made an honest sale.
What really did it for me was the day I brought Dave to the airport to go to Acapulco for the annual Managers Vacation. He told me that he made $500/month on the red bull cooler he had in his office. I asked him how he could sleep at night making that much money off his employees. He then had the nerve to call us his business partners.
I was thinking about it. Here's 20 guys working their butts off to make $8/hr (on a good day) while he just yells at us if we have a bad week, works 3 hours a day, and makes an extra $18/day selling red bull to people he calls his business partners.
He then tries to scare you out of leaving by saying that you probably won't have another chance to make $100k/yr in any other job. Right, because his company is the only one that has employees in the US making 6 figures. He'll tell you stories about previous employees and how miserable they are now.
Well, it has been 5 months since I've done that job and I now work for Wells Fargo Financial selling mortgage refinance, auto refinance, and general financial help and I couldn't be happier. I'm well on my way to making that $100k salary in 2 years and I don't have to work 80 hours a week and walk 10 miles each day to get there.
All I can say is thank you for teaching me all the things I don't want in a job. It was quite an experience.
