Complaint / Review
Wellington Wholesale, DS-MAX
Ripoff, and Phoenix, Arizona

I was on The Aftermath and saw a link to this site. I was astonished to see only one report on Wellington Wholesale, but was glad to see that it was written by a freind who I have not seen in many years.

I worked with Marchello in SF and Arizona. He is a standup guy and everything in his post is true. I saw it first hand and experienced it for myself.

When I started at Wellington I was at probably the lowest point of my life, I was out of work, had no money, my bills were piling up and I had no where else to turn. I went on an "interview" that sounded promising. It was listed under Management Trainee. The owner of the company conducted a 2 minute interview with me consisting of the questions:

How would you rank your work ethic on a scale of 1 to 10?
How good are you at working by yourself on a scale of 1 to 10?
How good are you at working in a team on a scale of 1 to 10?

I was told to come in the next day at 8:30 with a comfortable pair of shoes.

I came in the next day and was greeted by a waiting room full of people waiting to "interview". We were asked to leave 1 by 1 with an "interviewer". The person I left with was Ken Rego (also one of the owneras), a charismatic S.O.B. From NY. We left the office and he immediatly begen to build rapprot with me, asking questions like:

Where did I grow up?
What was my last job?
Why did I leave my last job?
What kind of music did I like?
Did I have a girlfriend?

Little did I know that all these questions were designed to loosen me up and to take my mind off the fact that he had 3 boxes full of merchandise (which turned out to be flashlights) strapped to a travel cart. Ken was a nice enough guy (I knew him for over 3 years and he was a nice guy the whole time) but something should have seemed fishy, although at the time it didn't because I was only 19 at the time.

I lasted the whole day walking door to door watching Ken sell flashlights. He made alot of sales. When we got back to the office I was sat down in the same office waiting area I arrived in originally, although there were way less people in it. I was told that the rest of the people who had come to "interview" were sent home because they were "not right" for the company.

The next thing I know Ken is telling me he is going to talk to the owner to fight for me being an employee. Also in the room at this time was Marchello who had a bankroll from all the flashlights that he had sold. He had also taken a "interviewee" out and was going to fight for him being an employee.

Guess what I was hired! Everyone is hired. And I mean everyone, blind, crippled, crazy, homeless, drug addicted, etc.

I learned to use all the same tactics that were used on me to hire me and keep me selling flashlights, books, calculators etc. Idid this for 3 years. I am not proud of this. I unknowingly lied to many people because I thought it was the right thing to do.

Working with Marchello was an experience. I lived with him as well as dozens of other "employees" in some of the worst neigborhoods in SF and AZ. At one point I remember Marchello and I living with 15 other people in a 2 bedroom apartment. I slept in the hallway with one other person.

This company lies and brainwashes people into believeing that they will be millionares. This is untrue.

Anybody who is thinking of joining this company should think more than twice. If you have any questions regarding this please email me at. I will answer any questions you have.
