I was hired to be an on-site property manager. I am disabled with systemic lupus erythematosus. When I was hired, I also moved in to one of the apartments on the property. The air conditioner and heater did not work. The air vents in all rooms had collapsed. The owner refused to fix them because she said it was too expensive.
The following summer, we had a 10 day scorching heat wave. The heat caused my lupus to come out of remission. I was put on chemotherapy and steroid medications. The medications, along with my disease caused skin lesions. The owner did not like the way I looked and threatened to fire me if I didn't stop taking my medications.
She also found out I was bi-sexual, which is something she ABSOLUTELY disapproves of. I was fired 3 days later. I was then given an eviction notice, with the reason being that I had agreed to give up my residence should I ever end my employment. That was a lie.
I am now suing for wrongful termination, discrimination and wrongful eviction with retaliation.
