We had a contract for a lease purchase with Tommy Mahaffa of ABA Rentals. It was a contract where we could leave at any time with notice or buy the home when we could. WE decided to move and gave Mr Mahaffa notice.
Our deposit amount was $10,000... This was noted in the contract as a deposit...
Now that we have moved, Mr Mahaffa is not wanting to refund our money. All of the property inspections that Mr Mahaffa did while we were there were great. No complaints from him at all.
Now that we are requesting our deposit back, he is saying that there are damages that need to be done. The only thing we have not done to the home is remove some paint where we painted the old ugly front and back porches. He says this paint has to be removed and we should not have painted them. Well, then, why didn't he note this on any of his inspections.? Now at the last minute he comes up with this stuff.
WE have offered to let him keep $2,000 of the deposit to have this paint removed. He will not answer our phone calls or return calls when we leave a message.
WARNING... Do not do business with Tommy Mahaffa... He is a bad landlord.
