I was contacted by a man who claimed he was with Distinct Advantage over the phone. Ho offered me free gas and other nonsense. I repeatedly told him I was not interested, but he repeatedly reassured me that there would be no charges to my account. He told me that there would be a two week trial period in which I could cancel my account without incurring any charges. If I did not cancel within that time period, my account would be charged $14.99 a month.
Within a matter of a couple of days, I found a charge for $149 out of my checking account to a company called Freedom Gold. I never authorized any such payment.
I contacted my bank who gave me the name and contact information for the company. When I called Freedom Gold, the automated system informed me that I could speak with a operator. However, after remaining on hold for 45 mins, I came to the conclusion that no one was going to actually answer my call. And their automated system only offers the option of cancelling your account, with no mention of refunds.
I am still going to continue harrassing them by phone and email until I am refunded the money that was stolen from me.
