I answered an ad through career builder.com indicating entry-level management training program, no experience necessary. That alone should of set alarms off in my head. It sounded too good to be true and it is.
I received a call back within 2 days from a rep setting me up on an interview. When I went on the interview, I was so impressed with the office. As soon as you walk in you see all these well known logos on their wall, like Disney, NASCAR, NFL, D.A.R.E., Crayola, etc.
I get called in to the office and I'm told that its a marketing company. They work with Fortune 500 companies, and how great the company has done for being a only 3 years old.
I was so blown away by the presentation at the interview because she was confirming everything I saw on their website. To say I was excited and overjoyed would be an understatement.
I was then told that she had other interviews to conduct that same day and by the end of the day she would be picking 3 top candidates for the manager training program. And that during the training period of about 90-120 days I would gain enough knowledge to become a manager and own my own branch of the business.
Before leaving the office I was told that if I get a call back that evening it would be to come in the following day for a second interveiw that would take all day because I would be meeting with the team leaders to get a better understandig of the company and that any questions I have will be answered then.
I left felling great, knowing the interview went well, people were friendly, etc. Well I got the call and was told to come in the following day in business attire.
I was so besides myself, I just knew I was in there. Well I got there this morning and I see the same guy that was interviewed the previous day after me. They call all of us in and we are told that we will be paired with a team leader who will show us what a normal day is like, showing you the positive and negatives about the job.
We're sent back out in the waiting area until we are paired. All of a suddden you hear loud, hype music, people shouting cheers. It's as if they are at a pep rally. That's when a little alarm went off but I figured let keep my mind open.
I'm paired with a young lady about my age and start to feel a little more comfy. We get to her car and I'm told to "slip into comfy shoes" which I didn't have because I was told to wear business attire.
We drive to a certain area, park the car and start soliciting at diffrent establishments. Now I'm thinking why are we at a supermarket, wine store, car dealership, mechanic shop, gas station, etc. Trying to sell make-up.
When I try to ask questions pertaining to the job, I am told all my questions will be answered during "lunch break" and the other person that was with myself and the leader was training, it was her second day.
I wish when i originally came on this site and entered there name the info would've came up. But during my lunch break that's when i heard the name innovage mentioned as the parent company and thought to look them up when i got home.
They mislead you in there ad, they mislead you on the first interview, and they torture you on the second interview. I walked in every establishment there was in the section of the town we were "promoting" the products.
I was hot, sweaty, my feet hurt from walking in heals up hills, through grass, and you are told you have to walk fast to keep up with your trainer who is wearing comfortable flats or sneakers. Beaware of innovage and nine zero marketing!!! Its nothing but a huge scam!!!
