My sister went for an interview at this target in north carolina, she had all three interviews in one day. The manager's just went on and on about how polite she was and what they could do for her and how well he she was portraying herself. At the time, she was also 4 months pregnant, and she told them that she was and when she was due. They told her that wouldn't be a problem, and that everything would be fine. They gave her an orientation date and time to come in and start filling out paperwork.
She went to take her drug test which obviously she passed with flying colors, and awaited her orientation. The day before she was to do her orientation she recieved a notice in the mail stating that they were not going to hire her. Well she was upset, they had given her all the info she needed to start and bring with her on the day of orientation, they gave her a schedule for the first week.
So she called target to find out what was going on. All they kept telling her was there was something on her background. I want everyone to know, at the time my sister was barely 20 years old, never arrested, cops have never been called on her not even once in her life. The worst thing was a speeding ticket that was thrown out of court. She called all the way up through the main people until she got a hold of the people who run the background checks for target, and she told them what was said to her. They got her name and social, and looked it up while she was on the phone. They told her that they sent a fax back to target saying they needed a copy of her social security card and id, because nothing was coming up. Her background was clean! Just as she suspected, so she called the head of ceo for target and filed a discrimanation suit against them.
Clearly, she was not given the job because of the pregnancy. If they didn't want her, they should have just told her nothing about an orientation. Might i also mention, that the manager at that local target told her it was because she was prenant
