A representitive of National Paper and Ink contacted an employee of the company I work for stating that they had just finished shipping our "new debit machine" and needed the model numbers of the machine to ship the paper. We have never in the past dealt with this company. Since we had just replaced our debit machine (through an entirely different company) the employee never thought anything amiss about it. He simply gave them the model number of the machine, and when asked he "double checked" our shipping address for them. They took his name and used him as the "authorized purchaser" on their phony invoice.
This dispicable company shipped the paper that we never ordered for the machine that they never sold to us at a cost nearly 10 times what we pay through our normal supply company. When the package and invoice arrived a co-worker contacted them to let them know that a mistake had been made and they needed to make arrangements to ship/collect the package. After 3 frustrating attempts to contact the company, they faxed us stating they "did not authorize pick-ups for goods shipped." we would have to ship it back at our expense. Since this was a complete scam we refused. On a whim, I did an internet search for this company on the web and discovered that a number of other businesses have been scammed by this company in a similar fasion.
Finally, we called and requested to speak to the head of the complaints department, after explaining the problem they informed us that we should have simply refused the package. Since our business is a busy GM Dealership that recieves multiple packages every day, staff don't refuse packages. After letting the company know we researched their bad business practices on the web and we would be in contact with the Better Business Bureau if the matter was not resolved quickly, I was told the invoice would be reversed. We were also instructed to keep the package as "a gift" if we didn't wish to incur the cost of shipping it back. Unbelieveable! I am still waiting to see if they stop sending us invoices.
