I have been fighting for CS for 16 yrs now. I was ill so I went to apply for foodstamps, they told me that if I sign up AFDC They would take my ex to court and get child support for us and in the mean time the AFDC would help and HE would have to pay it back. Sounds great doesnt it? Thats what I thought.
I took them several months to get around taking hime to court and in the mean time he quit is job and enrolled in college to study what he already knew to get out of as much as he could. He got away with it not a question asked. They got an order of $115 a month. About 1/4 of what he should have paid. But they didnt care because they were taking it and not recording it. Since I have tried to work this case my self with nothing but interference form CSE attorneys. I have taken hime to court got orders and had him arrested countless times they wouldnt.
My ex hired a lawyer and tried to get custody. He did this as revenge for throwing him in jail. He was to broke to pay any child support w/o a warrant but could hire a lawyer. Of course nobody asked him about that. I hired a lawyer as well but couldnt afford the bill so I settled and let her go for a year. Of course he also had found a decent job after all these years of saying he couldnt get one. But he still owed more than $16,000 in CS so he ended up have to pay arrears. Thanks to my lawyer.
Not 9 months later my daughter came back after discovering that her father really didnt want her, he just wanted to play games. I repeatedly told CSE that she was with me and that I needed to get things changed, done whatever to get the payments made to current support. They told me they were taking care of it, it was being worked on, and finally that the payments wwere to current. 6 mos. Berfore my daughter turned 18 I found out that that wasnt true. They had done nothing but lie to me probably just to get out or shut me up. They also told me that if I wanted CS I would have to get it myself, which I did. The bottom line of that is 19 months of no child support, which totaled over $9,500.00!! In editon to the support they were collecting and not recording and the support they actually gave back to him.
All you get from then no matter what it is or when is that they cant do aanything or there was miscommunication and lies. I could go on but it would be 30 pages.
