We contracted A1 remodeling to put an addition on our house which was to include removel of old roof and two small bed rooms. He was to a complete second story on our home approximatly 1100 square foot. He removed our roof two days before high winds and rains were supposed to hit when ask about it he said he would tarp it and it would be fine. His tarps had duct tape and holes through them so I went and purchase two 40x60 tarps for him to use which he tore holes in them putting them up because of nails that were left in old trusses he hadn't yet removed.
The wind and rain came ruined our ceiling and walls down stairs and we were unable to live in house at this point. He originally told us we might have to stay in our trailer for 1 or 2 days at the most because he was going to take the old off and have the new trusses and sheeting on in two days and we could return. We left and four months later he still wasn't done we had to turn the water damage into our own insuranse company because his was way off base on what they wanted to cover we had just remodeled our down stairs the year before and they wanted to deprieciate everything alot which I felt shouldn't be because it was his fault not ours.
When we went to get our rough inspection the inspector laughed and wanted to know who did the work because none of the interior walls were tied to the trusses he said we can't have floating wall. That would have to be fixed and then reinspected. At that time we told him to stop any further work which he had given us estimate for down stairs damage which was also way off so we ended up using all the money originally alotted for upstairs and all that the insurance had given us and it still wasn't done.
He said he still needed more money to do anymore work we said no he said we owed him I said wrong again your contract said upstairs to be done in six weeks not 4 months good bye have a good day vince he said he wanted his money I said i wanted all the work completed I have already paid for before you get anything more from us. The whole thing turned into a nightmare; no two door ways are the right size he had me buy a 36 inch door and his carpenter built a 34 inch opening he moved a wall approximatly 8 inch inward because he felt it neccasary nothing he told us originally went the way he said it would be.
We contacted attorney general he told us to get an attorney because Vince barranco said we still owed him money for work he did that we had to pay someone else to do right to get inspection passed. We couldn't afford attorney but we hope that this maybe will help keep someone else from getting ripped off by this company. After we told him we no longer need his service we were told by one of the sub contractor the reason he was let go was because he kept telling us things that Vinces other worker was doing that was wrong when we would question vince he would act suprised and make him redo it and charge me the mans hourly wage to correct it.
Please let it be know to everyone that might need a contractor or remodeler double check here references and make phone calls to check references don't just except paper that they might give you. And make sure that they are aware of the tree day right to cancel the contract after signing, Vince started tearing off the siding the day we give him the required money to start which was the same day we signed actual contract
