In October I purchased a new Chevy Trailblazer that had been used as a managers demo. The vehicle had 6034 miles on the odometer. I was told by the Sales Rep and their snake of the sales manager that I would have a FULL 36,000 mile warranty on my vehicle and it would expire at 42,034 miles, they even put it in writing on the original written order acceptance document.
I love the vehicle it has been great, but like with all NEW vehicles, one they keep track of little items and before your warranty expires and schedules an appointment to have them resolved, that was me. Driving home last night I notice the speedometer was drastically over-reading. It shows 30mph when you are stopped and 70mph when you are driving 40mph or so. The odometer read 37,980 miles, so I called my DEALER to schedule an appointment. I spoke with the service manager who told me my vehicle was out of warranty. I explained that, no my vehicle was a demo and I was told and have it in writing that my warranty with GM expires at 42,034 or 36 months. He proceeded to tell me that isn't how it works. 36,000 miles from zero is the only warranty they have. I asked to speak to the sales MANAGER who was involved with the sale of my car. He of coursed denied ever saying or writing the warranty statement. I explained that I had the written proof somewhere and that if I had to get my attorney involved I would. He said he DOUBTED I had any such document but if I wanted to F&ing sue, go ahead and try.
Being a Christian, I said, I would bring my paperwork in tomorrow and discuss it with the owners of the dealership, and hung up the phone.
I located my paperwork and nowhere on the paperwork is there anything about the additional warranty, but I expressly remember asking them to make sure it was on the final paperwork and it was. I then recalled that the day I signed the paperwork, my wife was working so we went together the next evening to pick up the car and have her sign the papers. When we arrived at the business managers cube he said, We need you both to sign because there was an error in the calculations on the copies I had signed the prior day.
We both signed the papers and took delivery of our brand NEW Trailblazer. I never double checked the paperwork so the only thing I have is a document with me acknowledging the car had 6034 miles on the odometer, yet the car was put into service in GM (Chevrolets) system with ZERO miles as of the date I picked it up. I now read on the web that this dealer is well known for its' deceptive practices. I notified GM's Customer Care department and they so far have offered to take care of the speedometer issue, but my position is that will not satisfy the CUSTOMER. I should receive the full 42,034 mile warranty I was promised and have the ability to take it to any GM dealership, as I will not set foot in Rockenbach Chevrolet again.
I deal with resolving corporate integrity issues in my work, on a daily basis. This dealer has a trail of complaints dating back several years, so I am puzzled as to why GM allows them to remain an authorized DEALER. I will make it my personal crusade to tell everyone I know, meet, engage with in the corporate world my opinion of how Rockenbach conducts business in such a deceptive manner. An old hillbilly saying... Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. Shame on you rockenbach. Your time will come.
As for my problem I will update you what the outcome is with GM and the District Manager for Northern Illinois, who is to call me on Monday to assist me with the problem.
