Family Promotions - Triple J Promotions - Quantum Marketing
False Job Opportunity Announcements, Misleading website, Impossible to Attain Positions Advertised ripoff

Family Promotions (a subsidiary? Of Quantum Marketing) advertised an employment opportunity for the position of Event Coordinator. After forwarding my resume, I recieved an email asking me to call to schedule an interview.

I checked out the website, searched the BBB and ultimately decided to schedule the interview. When I called on Friday, they wanted me there on the following Tuesday. So, I purchased an airline ticket, hotel and rental car package and was on my way.

When I arrived for the interview, I learned that ALL positions are "entry level" only and lead only to "office manager" positions. Thus, there is no Event Coordinator. Furthermore, I learned that the "marketing" firm doesn't actually perform "marketing" functions, nor do they work with Disney, Vivitar or other large corporations as their website proclaims. They work only for non-profit organizations - handing out promotional materials on the street. Which is nice, but NOT marketing.

The icing on the cake: to even get an "entry level" job, one must remain in Orlando for several days to complete a second phase "training" process. They don't tell you this over the phone when you call to schedule your interview. Because I made my travel arrangements based on the single interview time they gave me, I was, of course, unable to remain in town - when the extremely unprofessional interviewer (who happens to be the office manager) learned this - she walked to her door and said, "Well. That doesn't give you a chance, because you have to be able to stay for the second phase in order to be considered."

Why wouldn't they tell someone that up front, so that appropriate travel arrangements could be made? This makes it impossible for anyone to even get a job - although, after meeting them, I can't imagine why anyone would want to work with them. They asked for my SSN when I arrived and I declined to give it - that's the only good part of the entire story!

I believe the non-profits who use their services should be made aware of their decietful practices and that Family Promotions should be required to reimburse me for the $600 I WASTED going for the "interview" for a position that doesn't exist with a company that doesn't do what they say they do.
