I got a call from Magazine Services of America and they pretended to be another magazine service that I had already subscribed to and they were just "verifying" my information. I foolishly gave them my information, thinking it was the other company.
When I noticed multiple charges on my credit card I called to have them cancel and they said they couldn't cancel. I closed the credit card account in the vain hope that they'd just leave me alone, but they keep calling and telling me that I have several overdue payments.
I talked to a person today and they said that I could cancel the account if I paid the overdue balance of $229.92, so I did. Then the lady transferred me over to another lady to cancel the apartment. When I talked to the second lady she said that in order to close the account we had to pay an additional $172.44.
Their argument is that the magazine companies have been pre-paid. The funny thing about their service is that you can change the magazine order any time you want to but you can't cancel because it's pre-paid.
Well, if it's pre-paid, then why can you change magazines any time you want to? These are all just bold-faced lies. They haven't prepaid anything, and they won't even send you all the magazines you ordered.
